James McGowan Ensemble releases Threads of Fate on May 22, 2026!

In 2026, Collected Strands (improvised chamber music) released our third album VOLUME 3, at the DOMS613 concert series on January 28, 2026.

About
James McGowan is a pianist (jazz and classical), improviser, accompanist, composer/arranger, conductor, and music theorist.
He performs and records with groups including the James McGowan Ensemble (photo on left by Curtis Perry), Modasaurus, Collected Strands, Jesse Stewart, Rachel Beausoleil, cellist Cal McGowan, and many others.

Dr. McGowan is an award-winning educator and Associate Professor in the Music program at Carleton University, where he teaches composition, music theory, and musicianship, in addition to serving as the Supervisor of Performance Studies. He is the managing director of the Carleton Jazz Camp and Song-to-Stage Camp, editor of the SMT Jazz-affiliated Jazz Theory Bibliography, member of the board of directors at Lotus Centre for Special Music Education, as well as instructor at CAMMAC Music Centre.
